The Sun (Microsystems) Never Sets on Me

A career as a wedding photographer never gets better than this--to meet and connect with a couple with a love for adventure. Before meeting Marcos, I felt that he was a quiet guy. I wasn't really expecting our engagement photography session to move beyond a regular shoot. We spent the day together, and I got to know Kirsten and Marcos much better than I had expected to.

Barbara (Kirsten's mom), a Sun Microsystems employee--whose husband, like I, successfully switched careers to become a lawyer--is a true sweetheart. I got to know Marcos's wonderful previous career and appreciation for music and travel; witness Kirsten's affection for Marcos before my eyes; choked up really bad when her dad gave his immensely touching speech during dinner (he also told me in the early part of the day that I could never take a good photograph of him, which I beg to differ); her grandma from Charlotte smiling sweetly at the sight of Kirsten in a resplendent wedding dress; and, of course, Barbara's email of encouragements to cheer me on in my new full-time career (Thank you, Barbara!).

To me, these experiences are absolutely priceless. Had I known life in this lane is so full of love, I would have given up my previous engineering job in a heartbeat, instead of struggling to decide if I should be a full-time photographer.

Kirsten, Marcos, Barbara & family, you rock my world. ;-)
